Dear Plus, ASB 19914 has been running for some time with the 'high point', arguably the incidents of 25th April 2020 (Crime Numbers: 20DY/97321X/20-ASB and 20DY/97326N/20 - Assault) involving three of my close neighbours acting 'in concert'. One of them, Colin Smart's long-term guest, 'Carole', who probably identifies as female, is conspicuous in not being able to control the effect of her drinking; on 25th April 2021 - for much of the afternoon, starting with an altercation over parking in front of the Pindi supermarket over the road and M Smart shouting out of the window, Carole was screaming for help over her battle with the "f'ing a'soles" and the "f'ing w'kers", largely, associated with the supermarket; her behaviour barely diminished after the arrival of two Police Officers! The last paragraph is inserted mainly to illustrate the on-going problems that some of us must suffer, but the main reason for writing this morning is to report a specific issue that I've been trying to ignore since Carole's arrival - the bottles rattling down the chute at all hours! This may seem marginal, but this represents the only racket in the community before the dogs start barking and the boys' cars start cruising, usually a little later in the day, and the noise generated reverberates around the close, in quite embarrassing fashion; this Sunday (9th May) it was about five o'clock when the first bottles descended, possibly waking other neighbours. 1) Is Carole a genuine tenant or a guest? Can M Smart be reminded of any obligations? Can 'Carole' be dried-out or moved-on? 2) Can suggestions be made (by anybody trained to get through to a drunk) that bottles (and cans) be well-wrapped before being sent down the chute? Can these characters be asked to walk down to the ground floor and access the bin through its housing? 3) Can the Council consider sealing the bin chute? David Austin 162 High Street DY9 8LT
